Default Help Tchain swap

Just slid in my new cam and need help with Tchain. I called Comp Cams and they said 7136 billet double roller would work since I have an electric WP. Well issue is I need the opti drive and there is no keyway for the opti drive. I want to use this tchain setup.

I'm sure someone has had this issue. I don't want to buy an LT1 chain set. This is an early opti set up.

There isn't really much you can do short of switching over to the vented type opti. If the stock sprockets look good why not just get a new chain? They are pretty stout, lots of people run them. I ran one spinning 6800rpm with 140lbs of spring pressure on a 242/248 cam.

good thing is I have a tcover for the newer opti but then I'll need to get an opti. The other thing is the new cam dowel pin seems the short type. If I recall the newer opti needs a long pin to spin the opti?

Yeah you will need a longer pin. You could take the one out of your stock cam. If you go that route just make sure the front of your new cam is machined out for the opti shaft to fit in.

Ohh I can pull out the dowel pin?? Cool!! Just to make sure there isn't that much of a difference in dowel lenght?

Both cams are lt1 so there is a hole.

I want to use that roller tchain its much lighter than the oem set up.

So is it worth it? Opti crap is opti crap and I don't want to spend all that $$ on the LCC setup.
