Default 94z28 lt1 mods to beat 08 gt

I recently ran against my buddies 08 gt. I had terrible launches powerbraking, and he pulled away dramatically. I have intake, headers, 20 over block. It was an auto vs auto.

I was thinking about installing a crane cam, new lifters, valves, the works. Some suggested torque converter.

So my question would be on a 94z28, what would one recommend to upgrade this lt1?

Any help would be great. Thanks

Stall, sticky tires...to be honest you should be beating him if he is stock. I have ran a couple new GT's that had CAI and exhaust and pulled them pretty hard.

Yeah, tires so u don't spin. Spinning is loosing. Idk how many more powerful cars I've beaten cause they spin.

i've beat a few stock or lightly modded new gt's also. I just have a CAI, catback, tune, and 3.73 gears in a m6 94 lt1.

What gears does your car have? If your plannin on a cam, you more than likely will need a stall.

You should have won if he was stock. Spinning is the last thing you want to do from a dig so that could explain why you lost. And you should have started to slow his pull up top. I've never really had to many problems with those. For the cam a crane cam would do nice for the street and if your going with a mild cam then a 3200 stall would go nice with that.

He mentioned he was looking at the Crane Cam which most go for their 104227 cam which does not require a stall..although it would def help. If I were you I would look at Lloyd Elliotts custom grind cams. You will get better performance with them over the off the shelf cams.

I have stock gears on my car(any suggestions?).
I looked at summit racing, and crane cam was the only "smog" legal one they had listed. Yea, I live in California, so Im limited on what I can do to my car. The 1st run I spun, The second run I stalled at the beginning. Recently my car has been missing due to wires hitting my headers. I thought I had fixed it, seperating the wires from connecting with the header. So I do belive a tune up is in order. And... my suspension is shot. It's terrible. I put new shocks on recently, but I need springs. It makes a sqeeking sound when I hit a bump, or even roll over a speed bump :/

It shouldnt take to terribly much to walk the dog on one of those things. My girl friends completely stock ls1 6sp ss shat on a manual gt from a roll. Patted the gas on him in 4th gear.

From a stop just some sticky tires and it should be awfully close.

Since your in Kali I'd try a basic tune up, stall, gears, and sticky tires first.
