Default Completely frustrating.

Well ran the new motor at the track today. This happens to be The_Merv's old motor. Well I trapped the same in a heavier vehicle as he had, 110 mph. Problem is I did so while running a 14+ time, not 12.6. Track wasn't very kind at all, my best time on the stock motor was 13.5@104mph, so while I picked up 6 mph I have now gone backwards in all other areas.

I def. have loose rockers now, I guess tomorrow I will redo those, and go one full turn this time.

I may have also killed my 10 bolt. Its the 168k stocker with mikronited 4.10's and a Thunder Racing cover. I think I'm going to replace it with a completely stock rear end. I've had the gears in there about two years now.

Also completely killed another exhaust clamp, I'm going to see if I can get the u shaped piece of metal welded, so I can get rid of the bottoms of the clamps, as those are what I'm scrapping all the time.

Aggravation.

Sounds like traction issues I run 12.0 at 110mph

Oh I don't have to post up the slips, the 60 foot times are a joke. With the stock motor I was down around 2.2-2.1ish. My best 60' today was 2.49, and on that run it spun going into second, also my first time at Bradenton, I was completely out of the throttle way too early on that run, as evident by my 15.97@74mph that pass.

My first run was a scary 18.9@98mph, 3.1 60'. I had two runs like that, where the car would not hook, not even in 3rd or 4th. There were cars out there today on e.t. streets not hooking.

I need tires, but like I said I think I fragged my 4.10s equipped stocker. Wish I had funds for at least a 12 bolt or better, not happening.

2.49 60' , wow there is way more room to improve that, you have big traction issues

A better tire and some suspension will help your 60' alot

Yeah here is the thing, the whole rear suspension is Spohn goodies. I def. need tires, and I'm going to guess maybe a rear axle that hasn't been messed with. I refuse to get drag shocks or anything like that, I like the twisties more than drag racing, I just happen to really enjoy it also and would like to turn a decent time.

The_Merv's 60' on his 12.6 run was 1.85. I already know why I'm not getting near the same results, I was just kinda let off some steam.

Nah the motor is doing what it should. I trapped 110mph, same as you, except I wouldn't doubt it if my car is about 200 lbs. heavier. Oh and the rockers seem to be loose at 3/4 turn, I'm going to mess with them tomorrow and go a full turn instead.

Might have blown something in the 10 bolt though. The thing lasted over 168k, I haven't been nice in the 61k I've owned it.

If your 10 bolt is on its way out, dont get sticky tires. Wait till you get the rear end problems sorted.

I have 86k on my 3.23 rear end and I have another rear with 3.73 waiting...i figured its cheaper than a 9 inch especially because I have an automatic, stalled, has all boltons and a cam in it...so it shouldn't go that fast...next year I am taking it to the track...that sucks that your track isn't prepped very well. Good luck with getting the lt1 in the lower numbers.

Oh I know this, I'll be happy if it makes it out of the driveway honestly. Might have to swap the whole rear at the house, or go to the shop I go to and have them put in a stock differential with some stock 3.42s. I think I'm done with 4.10s.

What is the setup for the motor? Also, if you had trouble with traction in 3rd and 4th are you sure it was your tires spinning and not your clutch? If it was the tires then a set of drag radials will take care of your problem once you get the rear fixed up or replaced. Good luck!

You can swap it at the house.. I did my Moser 9" in the Garage..would have been a whole hell of alot easier at the shop, but if **** happens it can be done. It's actually pretty quick of a process..

Oh yeah folks, it gets worse! Forget just loose, looks like I have two collapsed lifters. I'm going to do some searching, probably start a thread about my options there. Killed one promag rocker, as you can see in the pics.

Man that looks bad. Were you running the stock lifters, if so how many miles on them?

Well I've come to find out I didn't collapse that lifter, it came apart! I started a thread on lifters the other day, but I will ask the question here I suppose, what causes lifters to come apart? Lifters have 85k on them, from 1995. This motor sat for about a year and a few months before I stuck it in the car. When making a pass I was spinning it to about 6500 in 4th, shifting the other gears at 6200.
