Default cam packages?

Figure I could get an idea how much to set aside. Im looking to get a 503 cam but curious if there is any packages out there for it. I just want to get an idea exactly what I need for it (so far seems lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, a timing chain and valve springs) and if there are actually full packages out there. Seem to find a lot of ls1 stuff but not much lt1 stuff.

Package deals are great for vacations but not so much for cams. There may be some out there, but you are usually better off buying things individually so the quality of all the components are never in doubt.

It really depends where you go for your package deal. I agree that a "Motel 6" package deal might not be ideal, but if the Ritz Carlton had a package deal I might not be adverse to it.

There are some companies that put together quality cam kits for LT cars. You might look over Ai's website before dismissing a package deal all together.

+1 on Ai's packages. If you try to piece together their kit, their price is good. I almost got it but I found a killer deal on some parts so I pieced it together myself, otherwise I would have gone with them. Its ~$1200 for their kit with cam, 918 springs, retainers, locks, seats, guideplates, pro mag 1.6 rockers, valve seals, pushrods, pushrod length checking tool, and valve seal installer. Not too bad at all.

Haha good quote.

Yeah the AI package deal did look very tempting. For some reason I just liked the idea of the 503 cam. Guess since I wont be ordering for a bit im checking into options, and what places are good to look into.

Very true LMAO.

Keeping in mind that there is a difference between a "package deal" and a discount based on
total purchase. I generally purchase complimenting parts from the same person who designs
my cam, that way I know I am getting the correct quality supporting parts.

On the flipside, there are "packages" out there like the Hotcam that come with substandard components
(which really tends to surprise people for some reason)

If you are planning to run a 503 (a great off-the-shelf cam BTW), I'd order
it, and quality springs, rockers, guides, etc... from a reputable vendor.
(I do a lot of my shopping at SummitRacing and Jegs and stuff arrives within 1-2 days with free shipping).

www.notasponsor.com
www.elliottsportworks.com

also springs rockers are a must and spinning anything that high id go with guideplates and hardened pushrods. i just finished my install yesterday pretty easy and def worth it when i go with a big cam in the future
