Before I put down my car, I had just gotten done rebuilding the motor (including a cc503 cam application and 6speed swap). Since I wasn't able to decide between 3.73's and 4.10's and funds didn't allow yet, I was still rocking the stock auto 3.23's. Honestly, the car was a dog. It wasn't horrible, and the 1500rpm at 65mph wasn't bad lol, but the thing was just begging for steeper gears.

I highly doubt 3.42's are going to be terrible, but the steeper gear would probably wake her up a little.

The stock auto w/3.23 is quite different than m6 w/3.42's.

That's exactly what I'm running. I'm happy with it but I plan to go with 4.10s soon.

that's what i'm running on a 355ci motor. i had 4.10s then broke them and went back to 3.42s because i had the old rear laying around.

3.42s aren't bad, but 4.10s were a night and day difference. definately going back to 4.10s asap...

if you can id go 4.10 gears. thats what i plan on doing when i have the chance. even with a stock engine. that cam of yours is going to have a higher powder band. which in turn requires steeper gears. but 3.42's wont be bad

Will I be screwed if I stay with my stock 2.73's? Yes, it's an M6 with 2.73's and I plan on putting in a CC503.

I want to change the rear gears but because of the weird ratios in an M28 I'm never sure what to go with, 3.73's or 4.10's.

IMO, deciding which gears ratio to go for depends on ur application, whether ur drag racing or street racing

I'm running a Bret Bauer custom grind cc503 on 3.42s and m6, I absolutely love it! Car drives great and idles fine. Of course this is after the tuning.

How does it feel down low, what are the specs on that cam, is it on a 112 or 114 LSA??

With the steeper gearing in the M28, I would probably go 3.73.

Here's the ratios:
Year - Model/Optn - 1st - - 2nd - - 3rd - - 4th - - 5th - - 6th - - Final
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1993 - Manual/M28 - 3.36 - 2.07 - 1.35 - - 1.00 - 0.80 - 0.62 - - 2.73 (GU2)
1993 - Manual/M29 - 2.97 - 2.07 - 1.43 - - 1.00 - 0.80 - 0.62 - - 3.23 (GU4)
1994 - Manual/MN6 - 2.66 -1.78 - 1.30 - - 1.00 - 0.74 - 0.50 - - 3.42 (GU6)

With that 1st gear and 6th gear, I would probably stay with 3.73's, maybe 3.90's if you wanted. I have a M29 swap into my TA, and it was definitely a noticeable difference, and I'm still on the stock 3.42's. I'm contemplating either 3.73 or 3.90 after I build my 383.
