thats what i was concerned about, i was wondering if i used a cherry picker and unbolted the motor mounts then lifted the motor a few inches if it would be easier than dropping the k-member?

Did the exact same thing on my sons 94 the other night.Corner of timing cover siliconed to the gasket and ripped it in half.Take off the oil level sensor, starter , dip stick and dust shield on trans and jack the motor up off the motor mounts. I put the bolts back in for something to sit the motor on,turn the crank to get the counter weight out of the way and when the motors high enough the pan will fall right out. put the car on ramps first, its a bitch to get under there to work. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did the samething with motor in the car. Do what was said above, jack motor up and replace it. You don't wanna get everything put back together then have a nice oil leak out of the oil pan. "If you're going to do it, do it right." It's a pain in the *** but it will be worth it in the end. I'm glad I replaced mine instead of rtv it up. Good Luck.

C'mon guys, it's not too terrible. Well I can say that b/c I have LT's and no Y right now with a starter missing. Seriously tho unbolt the mounts, take off the starter, jack up the transmission casing (if it's an M6) or the crank hub (if an auto), unbolt and drop it.
