Default 918 beehive springs in LT1

Can u use LS1 918 beehive springs on a stock LT1 head?
Or are the 918 good for LS1/LT1?

If so, what retainers and locks do I need??

yes..they can be used, but I would suggest the Patriot dual spring kit. The price is great for a complete kit with tit. retainers and all. I run this on my setup.

$255 shipped

i have 918 springs with ti retainers and 10deg. locks. Only thing you need to buy special is locks that are +.050 so you get the correct installed height. Had mine on for 2 years now and rev to 6700 and they work very well.

I wish I would've known about those before I ended up paying about $370 for all my Comp Cams stuff.

lucky haha i bought all my 918 parts new. but they were well worth the price. those patriot springs look like theyll do just fine. its actually not a bad install on an LT1. i thought it woulda been harder with the engine being so far back and all. but so far i love them

I'm running a set on my car with I think, PN 987-16 retainers, and stock replacement locks. seems to hold up just fine on my car for the past 10k miles of hard driving.

I friggin hate beehives.
Had comp 918's- busted 3
Had PAC1218's - worn out in one year which resulted in float
Had PSI LS1's - Not enough pressure which resulted in float
Had Manley beehives - Busted 5

For stock or mild cams, they might be fine.
I changed the cam and reduced lift . ~.030" and got Patriot dual extremes. Very happy

These are $255.00 per head. In other words you would need two sets.

Its 255 for a PAIR of heads. You don't need two kits.
