Default LT1 Nitrous Build

Im building a bottom end for my lt1. I was wondering if anyone on here is running a 200, 250, or 300 shot on the stock crank? I have a 355 in mind if anyone has any input it would be great.

stock crank has been used many times @ 200 HP

CHASED on here has a 355 and has been spraying it with 200 for years on a stock crank and if he hasn't broke it I have good faith in it

From what I've studied, it seems that as long as you pair the crank with 4 bolt mains that you could run around 600-750rwhp. I could be off on my numbers but it appears that above 500rwhp it's actually the 2 bolt main that becomes a bigger concern than the crank breaking. Chime in here fellas...

has GM ever produced weak *** internals? im pretty impressed with teh LT and LS internals anyhow. my stock crank too 500 Ftlbs to the tires a LOT! and that was clutch dumps on slicks at the track... my faith is good

I'm curious my self. Planning on a 300 shot possibly using stock crank.

Use a progressive for a big shot, or duel stage to soften the hit and you can use alot of N2O on the stock crank. I know a guy doing a progressive 300 shot; but converted to splayed 4 bolt block.

as others have said it's not the crank it's the 2 bolt mains that won't hold up to the 300hp hit..... It might but chances are you'll hurt something..... as long as you keep the crank stable and not walking around within those weak *** 2 bolt caps you'll be good..... which is why most at those power levels go 4 bolt mains...... why not just buy a crank. A good forged crank is like what 700-800 bucks????

how much is a rebuild gonna cost if it splits the block in half when the crank or caps let go???? more than that....

On the list of the fastest LT1's theres a guy with a 355, 300 DP shot, Stock crank. Hes running high 9's @ 139ish i think. Hes not the only one doing this kind of thing. There are lots of people making big numbers with FI setups.

Most likely you're talking about jason warren's car... Yes he was using a 300 shot but i'm sure he had 4 bolt mains.... and i'm not sure how long that motor lasted. he returned it to stock after awhile of running 9's.. not completely sure why. It was one of those "WTF" moments in LT1 history..... he was definitely one of the first pushing the envelope...

Well Im not trying to say the stock crank is a good choice. I would put a forged one if it were my motor but im just trying to say that many have done insane things with one.

I would also guess that it had 4 bolt mains. And i dont think it lasted too long given what the guy was doing. But props to him.
