Default High compression cam specs

I am interested to know what cam specs are desirable for a high compression motor to allow for a safe DCR. I realize that it is a very complicated relationship between LSA and overall overlap ect. just curious if there was a general rule, as I will be trying to make a decision on a cam for my 383 with 12:4:1 SCR

12.4 is not out of line, I run 12.6 on SHell 93. My DCR is 8.7

There is alot more than you think to get it right. DO NOT depend on a mail order tune for your setup, pay to have it tuned on a chassis dyno.

COntact Bret Bauer, Lloyd Elliot or Advanced induction for a cam. Get a custom grind.
