Hayne's manuals are usually pretty handy for that.

yea i'd say the chilton should have all the info you'd need, otherwise do some google searches and see what you get.

Anyther invaluable resource is the How to Rebuild Chevy-Small Block LT1/LT4 Engines.

http://www.amazon.com/Rebuild-Small-.../dp/1557883939

It has complete step by step instructions, with pictures and torque specs! Mine is absolutely covered in grease from using it.

I did use that book when I was building my new engine, its a great resource.

When I cammed my LT1, I was also replacing the motor, so I did the whole thing with the engine on a stand, soo much easier. If you were only doing a cam, I'd say leave it in, since you are doing heads and cam, I would drop it out. But remember this is comming from someone who has dropped it out several times before, it's not too difficult.

+2, I just put my motor back in last night from doing a cam swap and having some head work done. It is really easy to drop the k-member and believe it or not putting it back in went really smooth. You are probably going to have to change torque converters depending on the cam so it is faster and easier just to drop the whole thing. The motor is back in K-member is torqued, I just have to plug everything in and service, bleed brakes, etc. and I have 26 hours invested so far, first timer, can be done much faster I am sure but I am happy with it.
