new cam and bottom end i Am rebuilding my bottom end with new bearing and rings. I previosly ran comps 230-236 510/520 cam. I like this cam and was thinking about putting it in to my new motor. What are the disadvatages of running a older cam (3-5 thousand miles.) how can i check it to make sure the lobes and everything are ok to put this cam in to my new motor? please help

you should see the contact area on the cam from the lifters. 5k is nothing, unless it was installed wrong or something exterme happened the cam should be fine.
