New Heads being toredown?
is it common when a shop builds a motor useing out of the box heads, for them to tear them down and check spring pressure and guild clearince and all that? or is it all b.s

If they are building the motor and you supplied the heads I would say yes. They want to make sure that the springs are good and everything is aligned properly. I would say if they built the heads up themselves at least they know it was done properly. I guess they feel better if they checked it out then just slapping them on the motor. I know I would feel better as well.

if I were a shop that wanted to stand behind my work, I'd double check all parts supplied by the customer
last thing he'd want would be a valve dropping and trashing the motor due to parts supplied and his name getting slandered locally and on the internet. that type of thing happens waaaay too often
