Default Plugging hole in timing cover left by E-wp.

Alright the car is coming back together but before I can put the water pump on I need to know how everyone plugged the hole that's in the timing cover left by removing the waterpump drive. I bought a 50 cent 5/8 freeze plug and it was too small, I don't know it they have an 11/16 there or not. Anyone else run into this?

What can I say, I don't know anyone that knows how to weld except for a guy at an exhaust shop.

pretty sure the one i used was 11/16". just put silicon around it to keep it in place. remember i almost dropped the 5/8 inside the cover.

Ok I measured it and it looked like either a 5/8 or an 11/16, I'll try the 11/16.

Freeze plug works well, I had mine welded close. Cost abut $40 though.

I JB welded a plug my buddy made in mine, you can see the pics on my motor build thread, its gonna be tough to get a good seal on it if the cover is still on there though...

Wow, I didn't think JB would hold up with the heat and vibration.

i've been told by multiple people they have had it for years and no problems one guy said he JB'd in a quarter and its been like that for 5 years.... If it looks like it's starting to crack at all i'll pull it and find somewhere to get it welded..

Hmmm I might just gather up some JB weld and a quarter then. Gotta get the car done pretty much tomorrow or Sat so something is better than nothing.

Use a 50cent, it will last twice as long.
Or a silver dollar

You can also use the old seal. Just cut a piece of thin sheet metal and use the seal to hold it in place. Otherwise, the half doller trick works well. I use "The Right Stuff" to hold it in place.
