Idle is controlled by the computer. You really don't want to mess with the throttle stop screw. It's not going to help and only cause you more trouble. You need to find the reason it is idling so high (vacuum leak, IAC problem, etc.)

Of course, you are not providing any details about your car, so it is a little harder to provide specific advice.

all it takes is a hairline crack, feel the hoses, any hard or dry rotted lines you should replace

I will check all the vaccum lines, but I will leave the stop screw alone. thanks for the tip.

The car is a 97 WS6 M6, 355 with forged internals, CC306, ported LT4 heads/intake, 54mm Tb, 37lb injectors, Hooker longtubes/ORY/Hooker catback,

Sounds quick.. lol

Could be an intake gasket as well... since you've had the intake off before, just a thought..

I dont think it is the intake gasket, my engine builder knows his stuff and the car seems tu run good other than the high idle. I think it is an old vaccume line that I missed I have to check, I had the EGR and AIR deleted and I may have missed a hose or cap.

Yeah it is just a high idle, she starts right away every time hot or cold and doesn't have any stumbling or hesitation in the throttle, I can't wait to get this thing on the road

The throttle blade stop screw is there to keep the throttle blades from gouging the bores. If you were to "turn the idle down" you would be closing the blades further to where they would be possibly touching the bores. It may also throw your throttle position sensor out of whack. As stated the idle is PCM controlled.

Did it run before with this TB? If has never run with it, then you might need to calibrate the throttle stop, while watching the IAC steps on a scanner. You would need to keep the TPS in a happy range, as well.

No this is a new TB to the car. what kind of scanner should I be using?

When I got the TB I checked it out and it looked like it had a pretty good seal around the blades and the bore. I dont know if it could close much more.
Also the dash has a check engine light still after having the PCM tuned to delete the AIR/EGR/rear O2s. Could the IAC throw a code if it was stuck? Can it get stuck OPEN? or does it stay closed when broken?

Also is there any way that the PCM just needs to "learn" Could it get better after a little driving?
This is from my Haynes manual
When the IAC connector is disconnected for testing the ECM/PCM will have to re-learn its idle mode
This would be the case with a new/reprogrammed PCM as well right?

And on another note SHBOX your site has been a tremendous help to me through this rebuild. MAJOR MAJOR props to you my friend

You'll need an OBD-II scanner. You should find out what the CEL is about.

Verify what the IAC counts are and what the TPS reading is at closed throttle (the blades should not actually close completely). I can't remember any codes there are for the IAC. They can get stuck, but normally are pretty reliable.

A little learning time is needed from a PCM reset. There are also IAC reset instructions on my website.
