Default Best cam with stock Heads that would net be the best E.T.

Hey Guys getting ready to do a cam swap. I know that this has been discussed a million times. But what I am looking for is the best cam with stock heads that would give me the best E.T. I don’t care about sound all I care about is that I would pass smog here in California. I know that a custom cam would be that way to go but for the sake of this discussion I would like to go with something of the shelf (for ease of tuning). I a leaning towards the crane 227 but have heard a lot of good thing about comp cams 503 and 305. Any Advice would be greatly apreciated.

Out of the list I vote 503, but I wouldn't put it in my cam only car.

IMO, the CC503 is the best bang for your buck on stock heads. It's been proven hundreds of times.

Have you looked into Lloyds custom grind camshafts? He can grind you his version of the Crane 227 which would be a great choice for what you are looking for.

+1 for Lloyds stuff. I'm running his 218/224 .544/.544 111 LSA and it really improved power through out the entire lower and mid powerband. Great 1/4 track cam!

P.S. I want your car Elliott

You will see better results going with one of his grinds. I would call him up and get one coming

His grinds are $300 to your door. As far as those choices go are you trying to choose one for 1/4 track racing?

Just like GoFast said, 300 buck shipped. The 223/230 will give you some extra kick at higher RPM's. Either one would be a great choice IMO.

i voted for the LPE 211/219
yeah it is old technology but so is the cc306 and it works!
reason for my choice is, the 211/219 is almost undetectable, this cam makes great power with less duration. many have run in the 11s with this cam however headwork was done but you can run good without.
in no way am i talking crap about the other cams they are good choices as well but if you can have the same performance without being overly obvious why wouldn't one choose the quieter less lopey idle cam....
LOL how many cars have you heard that sound like a 10 second ride but only runs 12s,hard to get good races that way!!!!!!! i do like the cc503 too

PM ABA383 he had the 211/219 for a longtime running 11s in a 383 full weight formula

Then go with either the 218/224 .544/.544 111 or 223/230 .565/.565 112..both will give you great street manors and with the supporting mods should be a great runner at the track

Some people, myself included, want a huge lope from the cam.

There was nothing cooler than when these dudes in this car next to me were talking and I overheard them talking about how my car was cammed and how awesome it sounded... and this was in a supercharged v6. It put a huge grin on my face. To me there's nothing better sounding than a cammed V8... except a turbine.

Some people love sleepers and some just love the intimidation.

I love both...

Your car looks pretty well setup for the track so out of those choices I would go with the CC503.

If you do some research and see what kind of track #'s people are running with different combo's or heads/cam packages from different shops you should find a trend of most of the fast LT1's running the same parts.
