Default header installation

im installing some headers right now on my 94 Z28, and i ran into some trouble with the passenger side. All the way in the back of the stock exhaust manifold, it looks like it has a metal tube attached to the manifold. Does anyone know how to remove it?

Are you putting race style or emission style headers on? If you are installing emissions style headers, you just have to reach up there with a wrench from the bottom and work it off slowly. If you are installing race style headers and will be deleting the EGR and EGR tube, then just cut the bitch and yank out the manifold.

Are you doing LT's or shorties?
I hope you're not an auto.

I think it comes out from the top, but if you remove the y-pipe and starter, it should easily come out from the bottom. Don't forget to remove the dipstick tube.

Oh man...I'll spare you, lol.

I have heard of people having a difficult time putting the egr tube back on because it gets in the way of the trans dipstick. But that is with pacesetter LT headers. Hopefully it won't be a big issue for you.

Yes, you can buy these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-...Q5fAccessories

Remove the EGR valve and the EGR tube in the picture posted above. Then put the block off plates on the back of the intake manifold and the the exhaust manifold. Also you can completely remove the AIR pump. Cap off the vacuum lines that go to the EGR valve and the AIR pump. Also cap off the AIR ports on the exhaust manifolds.

The block off plates are universal. Two of the plates are for the back of the intake manifold, one plate is for the EGR port on the exhaust manifold.
