Clutch noise

Clutch noise
Have a quick question on my clutch pedal. When my clutch pedal is engaged all the way I hear a loud chatter clunking type noise. if I let the clutch out just a little it goes away and I can still drive and shift with no problem. It only makes the sound when it is fully pressed, at idle or while driving. I was doing some searching and came to the conclusion that my clutch fork bolt may have backed out and my fork may be loose. Just wanted to see if that seems like something it might be to you guys. Any info would be appreciated.

I might be having the same problem at the moment. Check the thread out: https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...g-syncros.html Third post down is a link to a video, let me know if it sounds the same as what you are dealing with.

I never found out but Im 99% sure it was the throwout bearing. It did it ever since I installed my Spec stage 2 clutch and I drove it like that for about 3 years and sold it that way. I cant remeber if I replaced the throwout bearing or not. You will either have to drop the tranny or just live with it. I felt it was alot of work for one bearing so I just dealt with it.

FWIW : I used to have a weird whining possibly grinding when I would shift into second. Sounded a little like that video. I changed out the fluid to check for metal and found nothing. replaced it with synthetic (redline) which didn't seem to do much immediately but, within a week or two it just went away and never had problems again. Definitely a PFM cure (pure f***ing magic). I believe my issue was definitely something with 2nd gear in the tranny though because nothing else had any problems. Otherwise, I just have the standard throwout bearing chatter when I'm in neutral with my foot off the clutch pedal. I wish there was a way to shut that chatter up when sitting still in nuetral. hehe...
