Default NEWB question

I have the transmission pulled out of my camaro.
I really need to have the car going next weekend and Im not getting the transmission back until then to put it in, so I need to fix everything else on the car this weekend.

Can I Crank the Car with no transmission or will it break something such as motor mounts etc. All I want to do is drain all of the fluid and change radiators because the car overheats. I would just let it idle, not rev it up or anything.

Thanks,

Trent

I just finished. I cranked the car and nothing bad happened. I just needed to see if it still tried to overheat with the new radiator. I have a lot to do next weekend and didnt want to be messing with the cooling system so I needed to fix it today.

He's not saying he's a noob, just that his QUESTION was

And as it's been said, you can. They make engine stands so you can run the motor out of the car Hell, my friend started up a Dodge 360 on an engine pallet lol My shop teacher had a 351W on a home made stand with a small fuel tank and battery under it. All you had to do was hook up the hose to the water pump adapter he also crafted and run the exit hose to a drain Yes, he was nuts, but he kicked major ***!

While I'm rambling, he taught us these 2 important things that pertain to cars and life! "Nothing goes together dry, that's what lube is for" (or something to that extent) and "Nothing goes together dirty, that's why you bring your towel to the beach!" If you don't quite follow them, think... dirty minded old man and it'll come to you
