What about ls1 auto to lt1 auto, same length? Also heard they are alot weaker. Anybody know about what point the start to break(60ft and hp wise)? Been thinkin about doing this myself but dont want it breakin during a round.

82-02 F bodies all use the same length driveshaft no matter transmission type.

Looks like you got your answer. You may also want to be sure it's balanced before putting it on.

Yes it does.

Keep in mind that V6 cars not equipped with the Y87 package used a heavy 2-piece driveshaft that used a center support bearing. They can, however, be removed entirely and replaced with a one-piece unit from any year car.

no 3rd gens came with a 2 pc shaft
still cant understand why they put a 2 pc in the 4th gen at all, hmmmm.

as far as how strong the alum shaft is well there are a bunch of 10 sec.Ls cars with them with a stick that could be a different outcome especially mixed with traction it may

I knew I saw it before, just couldn't remember if it was under a 3rd or 4th. Thanks And I can't understand that logic either other than to preserve ground clearance for a certain engine and tranny combo :\

Lucky you Seems almost too good to be true so make sure there's no dings or gashes in it. Look it over closely!

83-02 shafts are interchangeable.
Auto/Manual/V6/V8 ... doesn't matter.
(Trans/rear end combos from 82s are not compatible with later 3rd gens)

Some early 4th gen V6s (3.4L) came with a 2pc shaft that had a bracket mounted to the torque arm.
It can be removed and replaced with a 1pc shaft. (Very popular mod for 3.4 owners; I've done it many, many times for people)

And yes, $60 is a great deal. $125 is typical for a used shaft in good condition.
They're good shafts for 11+ sec cars, but I've seen guys shred them with bigger setups.
If you're planning on running low 11s or better, get a purpose-built aluminum of Chromemoly shaft.
