vortec bottom end using dist. optical?
I'm fixing to do a rebuild see my sig for details. Ok here is my idea me and a buddy were talking about my car today and was wondering if any one could give me some insight on this ( I know do a search but not all the details I'm looking for are there or I'm not looking hard enough) He has a 96 vortec block complete with gm aluminum fast burn heads that he can hook me up with cheap. My question is can I use this block and heads in my z using the optical sensor from the vortec dist to control LTCC (coil pack conversion) Also was thinking about using a single plane edelbrok intake with a elbow. Also read a neat post about using LS1 pcm.
Oh and this vortec is built 11.1 all forged 4 bolt main arp studs (head, and mains)

If you plan on using the the LT1 computer, no. I brought this up almost 2 years ago when I was helping a friend work on a 4.3 Vortec after seeing it was an optical distributor. Everyone said nope.
