Default SLP spark plug removal socket

So I just bought the slp spark plug removal socket. Basically its just an open ended socket that the spark plug stick out of which you can then turn with a wrench. its supposed to help out in those real tight spaces. im just curious to see if anyone had any experiences with this particular socket or one like it?

It's a breeze changing plugs....on an LT1 I change all but #2 from the bottom....and on an LS1 I change all but #8 from the top....no special sockets, ratchets, or swivels were needed

I have it and it has been helpful.

It is just a craftsman spark plug socket that's been cut pretty much in half, then the bottom where you would snap a ratchet in is drilled out to allow the spark plug to stick out. It's cheap enough that it might not be worth the hassle to make your own, but it's nothing special if someone wanted to try it and had the tools to get it done.

you should do a write up then because most of the lt1 crowd has a pretty difficult time getting them out. share your secrets

Well worth the $20 or whatever the hell they are charging for it these days. I use mine on every plug change, this and a ratchet wrench.

the funny thing about that socket is its a craftsman sold for 29.95 (last i checked). snap on sells a shorty like that for 25. they work well regardless.

I'm sure it probably works great. I used a socket and a pair of vice grips.

lol I've heard horror stories about changing plugs in these F-bodies.....so I put it off for 8 months and 2 weeks ago I changed plugs in an LS1 and the next day I changed them in my LT1....Took about an hr and 15mins to change mine.
