Get the MSD wireing harness, it plugs right up no cutting or splicing wires.

One other thing with the harness if the box goes out you can just unplug and plug the stock stuff back up. You can bypass the box without rewiring the harness is worth it.

Im sure your not going to notice anything major. I installed a 6AL and Blaster coil. First started it and didnt notice any quicker starts like everyone reports but then when I went around the block it felt much more alive and much better throttle response.

IMO, it helps shorten the life of the Opti from what I've read and seen on different sites. I'm sure there will some that say it doesn't harm the Opti.

I have posted in the past i went thru 3 or so opti s a year. with the MSD 6AL. Alot has to do with the high voltage creating a ozone inside the cover. You need an amplifier box such as a msd if you are going to run any power adder. I put the lscoil packs on mine before it was all done.

92k miles on the original opti and the 6AL was on the car when I got it at 51k miles. just my own experience w/ it..
also my car starts right up compared to my buddy's LT1 which takes a couple cranks more, of course other factors could be involved just like when opti's die.

Just a thought littleoff subject but when I had long crank time I had a fuel pump issue. But also when I had my msd I never had another car sitting side by side to check crank times never know It may help out.

What kind of power are you guys trying to run with out an amplifer box? The lt1 i had on motor would do over 400 to the wheels and on the dope over 700 . try that with a stock opti and see if the hood stays in tact. Heck the first turbo engine i had would blow the spark out anything over 15 psi. I had to step up to a 7531 box. **** i think i am going to see if i can find a points type distributer.

true fuel pumps can effect crank times too. my buddy just replaced his pump & opti tho and my pump has been getting louder but mine still starts quicker than his but he an extra ~40k miles on me so..who knows
