hose/thermostat trouble
i got a 96 camaro with a LT1. i am curious to what my problem is.
the hose that goes connected to the thermostat housing (shown by red arrow)
is expanding more than normal. could the thermostat not be opening up all the way and not be letting coolant flow into the water pump? this started happening last night after i got home from work. i drove it around today and its doing the same thing. i replaced the radiator cap today and its stays the same.
anyone with info as to what this could be would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you could try replacing the T-stat and see if that helps. I'd also replace the hose if it's swelling. You don't want that to burst and soak the opti.

check the hose first..it could be damaged also try letting the engine warm up and grab the hose to see if it heats up. You can take the thermastat out and put it into a pot of boiling water to see if it opens up!

LT1's have a reverse flow system.
is that a high volume pump, and is your car overheating.
I am guessing that the pump is higher volume than stock and is pushing more volume into the same size space(OEM hose) and pressurizing it making the coolant hose expand.

Hey:
Also as mention before bleed your system and get all the air out.
Hose ballooning occurs if the system has excessive air, over pressure, or the hose is breaking down from inside out.
While the car is cool, grab the offending hose and see if has a soft squishy feel to it, compared to a similar rad hose nearby. It will very soft, check for cracks, if the hose has any issues replace and then you can move on to the next item.
Also How many miles are on the car?
And have you done any upgrades recently to the cooling system (Changed thermostat, changed coolant or whatever).
