Default Do ARP rod bolts require machine work?

I just bought a new GM OEM 4-bolt main LT1 shortblock...and was going to upgrade rod bolts in it to ARP. Do the rods need machine work or can they just be put in and torqued? i have seen so many different responses that i don't know.

The right way to do this is to have the big ends honed after the rod bolts are changed. That will ensure that they are perfectly round when properly torqued.

you have to diassemble the motor and resize the rods to do this.
if you are going through all that you should put a set of H-beam rods and forged pistons in there, just my opinion though!

You said a new shortblock...was it recently honed w/ torque plates? If not, take the block in to get it honed with torque plates to seat new rings (I figured you'd be using new rings if you are going forged pistons and H-beam rods).

Isn't it funny...new ARP rod bolts => rebuild with forged internals.
