Default Running weird with cut out?

So I've noticed lately that when I get down on it the car kind of stumbles around 5k so I decided to close the cutout and see if it happened. It pulled smooth all the way to redline. Is a lack of back pressure causing this or something else? Has anyone else had this issue?

Do you think only opening it halfway would give it enough back pressure?

I would try to read your knock retard at WOT with the cutout open and closed. It's NOT a back pressure problem.

Yeah, I have never heard any such issue with a cut out doing that. Normally folks get better gains with them open,, that's the whole point of running one.

Stock fuel pump. Only mods are K&N Intake, Magnaflow Catback and then I just got the cutout last week.

I would do two things.

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the rail and watch your fuel pressure when you are having your stumbling systoms.
Second, try to get a hold of a scanner that reads real time data and see if you can get anything from it when your car stumbles.
My guess is that it's either a fuel pressure drop issue, or an ignition problem.

I've been told that no/to low backpressure on LTx's is going to cause some oddities. Nothing that will hurt the engines just make them act a bit off. the guy is.. well was a GM service manager for a local dealership that closed down. Poor buisness moves by the owners. They were in a nearly perfect area but did not take advantage of it. They were right on a main drag in a small town between a goverment installation (that moved that afor mentioned small town) and a small city. Everyone had to pass them to get between those two places. The service manager is now leasing the shop area to run his own auto shop. Very honest and straightforward man. Sad to see a local chevy dealer go down. Was hoping to buy my new camaro through them. oh well. Looks like I'll be going elsewhere in a few years.

i would say a fuel pressure issue not ign. mainly because it takes more fuel when you flow more air,
when you close the cut out your loosing power,
fuel pressure gauge is in order

If its a fuel issue wouldent he need alot more mods than that to run out of fuel? Unless of course it a 1993 with the crappy 22# injectors, mine sucked, they would stumble all over the place at anything over 5000. I thought either fuel pump, opti, wires, or plugs, but it was those stupid things.

Well not if his pump is going out like mine was a couple years back. My fuel pressure was a solid 40+ psi at prime and rpm, but at WOT, the pressure dropped to about 20 psi at ~5000rpm causing it to stumble.

Replace your fuel filter too, as mentioned earlier.
