Default mac headers

I have had a set on order now for 5 weeks. They said 2-3 week backorder. My question is, are thes headers really worth the $500 dollars and 5 plus weeks? Or should I cancel this order ?

Pacesetters coated long tubes. I ordered mine from speed engineering and i am very happy with them. Dont settle for the mids imo. LTs or go home.

My car has a 2 in drop, not really an option. They claim 28.4 at the rear wheels, I dont think I believe that either.

I put down about 26 @ the rear with mine when I was running them. They are a quality header if you are looking for a Mid length. The only thing negative I can say about them is that they sit too close to the block and if you aren't running OTVC wires you are going to burn up them up left and right.

I would look at the RK Sport or AZ Speed n Marine headers. (Almost identical design)

Some people call them long tubes, but they're the longest mid tubes you can buy.

And 1 3/4 dia primaries unlike most "shorty" or mid headers.

They actually work better than long tubes for some applications, and for your mods and concerns of being lowered they would do great.

Do some research on here, they have very good reviews from some knowledgeable guys.

I recall one guy who switched from Hooker LT's and TD's to ASM headers and ORY and picked up 35rwhp and 40lb rwtq.

Of course those results will vary, and conditions could have been different blah blah blah but his experience was good, he theorized that the hooker lt combo and td's weren't enough back pressure.

BTW he was making almost 400 rwhp IIRC.

It is my opinion that you dont NEED lt's until you start pushing some serious hp. Of course everyone blindly recommends them because they will always pick up HP over stock manifolds (anything would).

But you may find with your mods that the rks/asm design gives you more average hp and tq (ie more fun to drive) even if they do make a few less peak hp than LT's, which I highly doubt.

For the price, go for the MACs. I used them for 4 years on my old setup and gained .3 and 3mph back in my bolt-on days. They fit great, plug access was superb, and the 1 5/8" primaries won't hurt anything on a bolt-on car.

If you've waited this long, you might as well keep waiting.

I have heard good things about them, but the wait is killing me. What plug wires do you recommend.

+1. I went with the OTVC Taylors the first time around with my MACs. Second time around I'm going with the MSDs, traditional routing.

Are you talking to Mac directly or from someone else? I had issues and after calling MAc a few times they finalally told me they will wait until they get X amount of orders before setting up the jig and making them. They did that to me, I got the original set and the AIR tube filling on the pass side was wrong and i had to send them back. The car sat for almost three months before the new headers came. When I called and complained they told me they were waiting for some additional orders. After multiple calls they sent my headers. Like you, I have a 93 so it's a one year specific header. I suggest calling then and see if this is the same case.

BTW, the headers are nice, the fit well and you will see a gain. Also shanging plugs are so much easier. I switched to Longtubes with my Blower motor, they are far more of a PITA then the macs!

Ihave been calling mac directly , they havent said anything about needing additional orders, the guy says he will have to talk to the shipping boss and he will call me back and he never does, so then I call back and he says they have no confirmed shipping date...terrible customer service. Icall them once a week, maybe I should call them every day.

Call every day. What's it gonna hurt? They have your money - you want your headers.

I agree.
In another week, if that doesn't get you either a square answer or your headers, then make it twice a day, a few hours after the first call if you've not heard back.

Umm RK sports price isn't that much different than Macs. If call them and see if they have a set in stock, if they do I would tell Mac to stick it. There's no excuse for crappy cs and you'll be getting better headers anyway...

They dont have my money yet, they bill you when they ship...but the money is sitting in my account, and Icould buy other things for the car, but I thought this would give the best performance gain for now.

**** them any company that wants to treat me like that isn't worth my hard earned cash, no matter what the quality of the product. times are tough for alot of people and being a dick to your potential customers won't help you last long in this day and age.
