stock heads?

if so they pretty much make the same power except the gm847 taps out around 5900rpm and the cc306 around 6200rpm

if not stock heads then just go custom IMO unless you find a good deal on one of those

edit: I'd also recommend swapping out those shorties, either of those cams won't be too happy with em

Call Lloyd Elliott, he can help you out with a nice custom grind.

People aren't voting because there are much better grinds out there to choose from. The CC306 and GM847 are relatively outdated grinds, compared to the increasing popularity of custom grinds. Newer custom profiles utilizing more advanced camshaft technology designed for your specific application will almost always make more power than a specific off-the-shelf grind. Off the shelf grinds are designed for a broad range of applications while custom grinds are tailor-made for your application, at minimal extra cost.

I'm not saying that OTS cams aren't worth it (they've been proven to an extent numerous times), but in this day and age with the emerging technology behind camshaft grinds from all vendors, big and small, it's something to consider.

One more thing, what does "The heads are ported .40 over" mean?

Give Llyod a call for a few more bucks over either of these cams he can spec one for your car that will perform and sound better! If you are going to spend the money and time it would be better to get the most gain!

Are you sure your friend wasn't driving in reverse? A large cammed LT1 will take a bolt on LS1. I know. I do it all the time. Either your friend can't drive or you meant to say your superCHARGED LS1.

figure the average off the self cam is around 260+shipping and lloyd can grind you one for $300 shipped. so for $30~ more you can have a grind taylored to your setup, goals, and driving style

i voted 847 only cuz that was the choices given, but unless you can find one of the two cheap with low miles or NIB in the for sale section, get a custom grind

I agree with this guy I only went with gm847 because I got a great deal on a NIB one. But IMO the cc306 duration is too much on exhaust, too little on intake, and the lift is too small.

CC306 --- 230@ .510 INT/ 244@ .540 EXT (1.5RR)--- 112 LSA --- 1800-5800
GM847 --- 234@ .539 INT/ 242@ .558 EXT (1.5RR)--- 112 LSA --- 2000-6800

If he put the cam in the LT1 instead of on the it I bet the results would turn out a little diffirent.
