CC503 and no tune
ok for all of you searching if you can drive your car with no tune after CC503 cam only set-up
yes and no
in closed loop the car will feel about 80% good
in open loop don't even think about it (runs extremely rich, bucks, misses, pops)

cc503 and no tune is perfectly driveable. we swapped a 96 ss imp motor (and trans +3k stall) into my dad's 72 el camino. it has cc503, crane gold RRs, and long tubes...on the stock tune. we drove it from indy to evansville with 0 problems. it surged ever so slightly when coming to a stop and was running very, very rich, but i think it drove great on the stock tune. it did not miss, buck or pop, even under near wot.
i've driven/ridden in "tuned" ls1 cars and were more difficult to tolerate.

I put a very very mild cam in my car (.480"/.488") with 1.6 rocker tips.. My car would surge so bad that it would die sitting at stop lights ocasionally. After my mail order tune I have had zero problems at all. I could not imagine a 503 cam on a stock tune...

I would say it did run "ok" at WOT but would instantly start dipping, going in the 10.5 to 1 or lower Air/Fuel at cruising lower then 2000 RPM area

I drove mine around for about a week before I tuned the car. Didn't really have too many problems except down low in the rpm. It seemed to hesitate quite a bit, but higher in the rpm it was ok.

Hrmm...I ran mine without a tune for about a month. It seemed ok to me. It ran about a million times better after the tune though, lol. But it never backfired, bucked, surged etc..., it was just rich.

It idles at 600-625 solidly and drove well the first trip around the block. Came back to the garage and went lightly on the throttle around like 1200-1500 rpm and let the clutch out and was alright till I leaned into the throttle then it started pop, pop, popping (not a miss more like incomplete burn) and had to rev it up to kinda clean it out. I would think if something was wrong it wouldn't idle nice or run well in closed loop right?
