Default EGR Delete?

Got the engime tore down for the cam install and was curious. Would blocking off the egr ports at the intake and the one exhaust manifold be worth any power? Obviously it would set a code for the egr system but mine already does it and I just ignore it because I know that's what it is. Any opinions or facts would be helpful. Thanks.

No, it will not gain any horsepower. Just need the plates, block it off, and go.

You won't notice any gains if that helps. I can't tell you "yes" you will have gains or "no" you won't being I've never seen any dyno number of before and after and probably never will either..ha ha

No power just a weight savings and easier to do plug changes etc. etc. Also...LT1 intake manifolds notoriously leak...with the EGR deleted you dont have it creating heat back there at the rear of the manifold where it causes the RTV to soften and therefore leak oil from. I've had leaky manifolds for years until I deleted the EGR and now all is well.

It's an aesthetics mod, not a power mod.

no power gains. I only did it becuase i found a good deal on headers with no emissions. Block off plates are ~$10 on ebay.

hm i never thought of that... i hope the same thing happens to me... i got a nasty intake leak in the back of the intake... i was gonna do a uppe rintake gasket but if blocking off the egr might take care of the issue then i will just wait on doing the gasket...

Very well said. I had that issue up until I deleted mine. Everything is golden now.
