Default Please HELP! Motor will not start!

Ok so here is the situation, As most know on here i swapped in an AI cam kit and put headers and a few other misc things so i got it all together tonight and went to start it and didn't quite work out how it should...

Here is what happend, got everything together and went to start it and it was cranking but would just not start...

So we checked all the plug wires to be sure and also checked all the injector wires and everything is good to go there...

It feels like it wants to crank over but it just wont get there. We had a good battery that was on a charger at the same time...

We had spark for sure, and had fuel...

When i put the timing chain on i had NO 1. at TDC and lined the timing marks up on the timing chain so that it good...

Few ideas I had are
1) the car is a 95, so does the opti have to go on a special way? i have read that its splined and will only go on one way so i dont know how that could have been messed up?
2) the car had old gas in it from a few months ago but we put about 2 gallons of 93 in there so i thought that would fix that?
3) My other o2 sensor has not came in so i have no o2 sensors hooked up at all, but was told it should still start and run?

Other than that me and my buddy are both lost...

PLEASE HELP!!!! I just want it to start!

THanks in advance!

A buddy of mine just gave me a suggestion, he said that the motor could have gotten turned and it may have been on the compression stroke or the wrong stroke i forget which he said but does that sound right? That means i'd just have to drain the oil and take the timing chain cover off, timing chain and rotate the motor to the correct stroke, line the dots on the chain up then close her back up, Pain but not terribly hard... What do you guys think that sound like a possibility?

Also thought tonight maybe the coil could have gone bad and i'm not getting enough spark? the plugs are brand new NGK TR-55's, What would gapping them to be best?

I'm just trying to think of any idea i can and see what anyone on here thinks...

You can tell the motor is real close to starting it's like it just doesn't have enough
"umpph" it's kinda hard to explain haha

That does make sense, these are 4 stroke motors so the piston has to make a full stroke for exhaust/intake.

do you have good fuel pressure?

did the wiring of your e-water pump mess with your ignition at all?

Spray some starting fluid into the intake area. The easiest way is to unplug the inlet air temp sensor on the elbow. If your car is indeed getting spark and it is timed correctly it WILL fire right up.

yea you could be timed wrong such as on the exhaust cycle....only cuz you say it sounds like it wants to but does it spit or pop out the intake or exhaust maybe...see with and older h.e.i you can change plug wire firing order and at times you can get it to fire up....but with this lt1 you really cant change wires..

I don't understand how guys can incorrectly time an LT1 though. You line up the dots on the timing chain, plain and simple. Even if it is off by 1 tooth, you will easily see that. Once the timing chain is lined up, the cam is in sync with the crank. Then it is simply a matter of putting the opti on correctly. On a non-vented opti it only goes on 1 way with the spline, so you can't do it wrong at all. A vented opti has the longer dowel pin on it and goes into the slot in the back of the opti. Make sure the wires are on in the exact same order and you should be perfectly timed.

Found my problem, the opit was on wrong, had the pin in the wrong slot so i got that back on and it fired, not it's just a fuel issue cause it would only run with spraying starting fluid in the TB... I'll get it figured out this week though!

Hopefully you didn't ruin your opti by tightening it down with the pin in the wrong slot. The correct slot is deeper than the other two shallow holes.
