Default Cam ate up a lifter, what replacement parts

I know that I'll have to replace my bearings gaskets etc.. like a normal rebuild. Do i have to replace my oil pump or is there a way to just clean that out and will my rings need to be replaced too?

depends on how soon you shut the motor off. if metal got to the oil pump your bearings are pretty much shot. same thing happened to me a few years back. two lifters cut in half and metal flake all in the lifter valley. all bearings had metal in them. cam is most likely toast. i now use link bar lifters. i have pics of the damage but you obviously know what it looks like.

Sounds like mismatch or poorly assembled components

I'm starting to feel lucky that when I had a lifter come apart all of it pieces were still in the lifter valley.

pull the oil pump and take it apart so you can look at the gears. for most of these answers you are gonna have to do some digging in your motor to find out. like i said my engine was completely destroyed but i didnt realize what was going on so i just drove it home (10miles). pistons were chipped on the bottom, all bearings covered in metal, oil pump gears chipped badly.
