Default Can you check o2 sensors?

My car keeps loading up if i drive in town alot and sit for a minute or two it will start to run rich and backfire randomly.. I had a bad coolant temp sensor and it was running super rich. Did this screw my o2's? I was wondering if there is a way to check the o2's without just buying new ones to try to find out if this is the problem or not..

Thanks.

You can watch them with a scanner. I would be less prone to think they would cause a backfire, though.

+2. You need to see if they are oscillating with in the full required range. Don't remember what it is off hand though.

Also if you don't have a scanner you can just unplug one or both of them which will force the computer to stay in open loop. If it runs better than the o2s are probably bad. It will still probably run rich but it will run better than in closed loop with fouled o2s.
