Default Help with aldl cable!!!

Ok we got the aldl cable and we can NOT get bastard to connect!!!

It's from www.aldlcable.com we have the jumper in the position it came in out of the box.

Drivers are installed

I've tried TTS Datamaster (which I later find out in the instructions wont work with a USB cable, grrr!!)

pcmread.exe from the carputin website.

and

freescan

Freescan is the closest but it only brings up com port 9 and 12. When I start the program it says system cannot find the file specified.

The cable is for a 94, the car is a 94 firehawk.

What am I doing wrong? I've tried every single thing I know of to do.

Thanks,

Greg

BTW - TTS Datamaster will work just fine with USB as I have logged mine several times with a USB interface. Make sure when you start logging in Datamaster you have the com port selected correctly as your cable will default to COM8 I believe (depending on how many devices you have on COM ports). Go to your device MGR and change your USB cable to one of the first 4 COM ports as I believe it needs one of these and make sure your com port selection in Datamaster corresponds with this port. Should connect just fine. Email Andrew over at AKM as he can offer some advise if you are still having problems and he's a great guy.

Thanks,

Guess I need to concentrate on making tts work then. Could it be a blown fuse not supplying power to the obd port?

Its definitely a port issue. You'll need to designate a port specifically for the ALDL cable. There should be some directions that came with it that show you how to do that. Keep working at it.

I agree with what's been said ..all u need to do is set the cable to the right com port and it will work. I've had the same issue. Has anyone been able to use datamaster with windows vista ? I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks guys! Changed the cable to com3 and we are off and running.

I want to give a huge thanks to Bob @ www.aldlcable.com he was out of the office but helped me on 3 different calls and spent a lot of time to get us up and running.

The cable was priced well and showed up stupid fast... I ordered at 3 in the mornin saturday and it was here monday lol.

Anyone considering getting your own cable, check them out!!!!
