Default Some help guys

I have a 95 Z28 6spd all stock. Ok well I drove my car to work today and everythign was fine.. Im coming home and all of a sudden on the freeway the oil pressure drops to very low and a knocking appears..So I baby it home and I pop the hood I rev the engine a little sounds like it coming from the passengers side I can hear it knock through the intake.. Any guesses? Also the ticking goes with the rpm and oil pressure builds up with each rev of the engine. But once the rpms drop the oil pressure drop almost to the red

Chances are good you've spun a bearing. Time for a rebuild.

Huh? You need to pull the engine, not the pan.

You can't simply replace the bearings. You need a complete rebuild.

Yes you can, but you can't simply just remove the rod bearings and/or main bearings and replace them. You need to cut and polish the crank, you need to align hone the block and mains. You need to resize the big ends of the rods. While you are at it you might as well put in new piston rings. To do that you need a bore and hone.

Basically, you need to yank out that motor and rebuild it. Or find a replacement shortblock.

Well I started the tear down lastnight at around 6 and quit at 8 because my son was a little cranky. Heres what I got so far. Drained the oil oil oil has a silver tinit to it and some little piece of metal came out of the pan. I got all the oil pan bolts out and got 1 motor mount loose. But I know some of you may not agree with me but im opting for an LT1 reman and having my work install it I can get the reman for $2200 and installed for about $800 the reason I am having them do it is because I am limited on space and im going for this because I cant get my dream engine (383 stroker) because id rather buy diapers and food for my son then get my toy the way I want it for right now

BTW: The block is a long block

Good, that is a much better plan then just replacing the bearings with no machine work. You have saved yourself from a big headache in the future. Hopefully it is a quality rebuild engine. Having a warranty is never a bad thing either.

Well I got my bill from work today for the labor... Wasnt as bad as I thought. Came to a total of $894.60... The book called for 20 hours so they basically only charged me 17 hours of labor. But I was thinking a bill of over $1000

ok well more good news... I got an email from the company I bought the engine from heres what is stated:

Hello-
Your engine was hot run tested and you had a birth certificate issued that gave
the stats of the engine (it was attached to the gasket kit).

The only other info I see is that it has a .040 over bore, federal mogul
pistons, and Durabond bearings.

Thanks
