Default Mod question here!

Has anyone ever "cut a hole" or "created" something to help the actual filter of the K&N cold air to breath or suck in air better? I was cleaning my filter out last night in my Z28 and that thing is crammed way down there. In that square area where the filter is it's really restricted for taking in air and I was thinking of taking roughly a 2inch hole saw and cutting a hole in the bottom plastic piece because there's nothing underneath it but open air. I figure this could help take in outside air better and possibly help the induction aspect. Anyone?

Watch out for puddles... But you can cut a hole then get some sheetmetal and forum a mold around the hold to "catch" the air and devert it up to the filter and hold it in with screws

Yeah I thought of the water situation but being I have another vehicle for my daily driving it really doesn't see much rain. That sheet metal idea is a good one and sounds easy enough. I would think even a small hole drilled out would create some sort of better air flow what ya think?

I actually did that before I did my Lid Conversion. I made a big *** Duct though..mine looked like a Shovel under there..lol
It worked really well.

I also cut the face completely off of the Filter too, exposing all of the Filter to incoming air.

Depends on the size you want. Their website has a catalog FULL of them that you can order Might as well go a bit bigger, right?

Just remove the plastic crap from under your car and it'll have the same effect.

I just got done doing a little modifying to mine. Until I can make up a actual piece to mount I took the biggest drill head I could find in the garage and drilled about 15 holes spread out around the bottom plastic piece. Almost did a wheelie after I tested it out
