Default What are the signs?

What are the signs of fading o2 sensors? Mine have about 100k on them...no real sign of any problems just curious. Is there a general rule of thumb on how long the factory Delco ones last?

You could hook up a scanner and see if the o2's are oscillating within the full spec range. But at 100k, if you've got the cash, I'd recommend that you get some new AC Delco o2 sensors.

The 4-wire flat Boshes usually run about $42 at the local parts store.

I have heard good things and bad things about the Bosch units. AC Delco's are more expensive, but I have never heard of any bad experiences with them.

So I've done some search on a few different web sites and the link you sent me for those O2 sensors are coming back as "CATCO" o2 on Summits web site and I think they are for a third Gen...any difference between the 3rd gen and 4th? On GM parts direct they are a different o2 then the actual part number Summit gave me for the OEM replacement AC Delco's. I'm not sure these are the correct ones. ThirdGen.org they say they are a 3 prong...aren't ours a 4 prong?

Well they do indeed sell "Catco" here is a link to the site with the o2 sensor that popped up after I put in the part number from the link you sent me. Maybe it's something they compare it too.

I think my original O2's are acting a bit lazy. When my motor is cold the car runs absolutely fine but when warmed up in stop and go traffic it will slightly miss at idle and sometimes hesitate on part throttle. My in-town gas mileage sucks big time too, about 10 or 11 MPG.Got black soot on my exhaust tips too.

Are these signs of O2's acting up?
