Default Header Install light smoke after

Ok after putting on the coated tri-y s headers from CIA I fired her up and after running for 30 secs light smoke out of pass side. It does have the egr hookup. It stumbles when idling. The air isn't hooked up and going to have that deleted. Any suggestions?

If you're talking about it smoking out of the exhaust, then I'd have to say oil in them from shipping unless you sprayed them out extremely well with brake cleaner. That or it's the coating curing.

X2 on the coating curing and oil. Pretty normal on new headers.

ok. I was worried for a second. Its the coat curing then. for the idling stubling a little bit would be due to the air pump having nothing hooked up to correct?

not really, probably most likely a burnt plug wire

Sounds like all the crap burning off of them from handling.
I'd check the Plug Wires aswell for a reason for the miss.

Ion at mad z28 told me that the coating will kill the o2's if the headers are new.

Happened to me.. new Headers killed my O2's in my Stroker Motor when I put it in. From now on when I put new Headers on I'm heating them up without the O2's in them.

Weird how all of the sudden everyone is having problems with their 02's burning out after a coated header install. This wasn't a problem a few years ago and now it's chronic.

OP,
Before tossing your 02's, check the plug wires. If nothing is found and the stumble persists then get the PCM scanned.

ugh... luckily i didnt take off with the car this morning. i took a closer look and one of the plug boots is arcing on the driver side header. and yea i wasn't thinking about running the headers for a bit without the 02 sensors, now im probably out of 4 o2 sensors great just keep on spending money as i get closer on getting my le2 motor put in...

forget it... im not about to take the headers cats and exhaust apart so i can get to that plug and replace it... its obviously dangerous driving the damn thing arching so ill just have the damn car sit untill that motor is ready... it just sucks when not having to work on your car and when you can squeeze out time to do so, another thing screws up... just gotta cross my fingers that it stays nice out here so i can just ride my streetbike until she runs fine again.

If I can do the plugs with my stock manifolds on, you can do yours with headers which makes it 10x easier

Mine smoked a little after my first header install. Some of it probably was from the coating for shipping, the rest would be from all the grease on your hands when handling the headers.

Thanks guys, got her handled. pulled the plug off and there was a tray wire hanging out of the base of the boot, pulled it off and plugged back in. Viola no more studdering idle.
