Default Tuning question

if i do head work(port, bigger valves, beehive springs, milling), install a new more radical cam, 1.6rr's, and new hyd. lifters will the motor drive without a tune? I eventually want to throw in a 2500 stall converter and 3.42 gears and i would rather tune it all one time...any info would be great

Yes it will run, but I wouldn't beat on it until you get a tune. A mail order tune is only 150 bucks from MadTuner, forgot how much updates were though.

Is that mail order tune specific though or just a generic more aggressive tune?

You fill out an order form detailing your mods: camshaft, heads, TB, injectors, gear ratio, transmission type, desired redline, idle, etc. And their is a paragraph field where you can include further detail about your car. The tune should be pretty spot on. You might see a negligible gain by getting a dyno tune in the future, but most are pretty satisfied with their mail order tunes.

Definitely go with MadTuner for the tune! I just got mine and it is perfect, a serious SOTP feel in power and driveability. Once you have a tune done it's only $50 to get it updated when you make more changes. Best to make as many changes as possible before getting a tune.
