Default milled heads.... gaskets thickness....

Ok guys so heres the thing..... I got a set of stock ported T.E.A heads that have been milled 25 thousandths to make the combustion chambers 52cc. Now, the question is if the gaskets I got will work.... they are 4.125 bore, .050 compressed thickness.... and will the valves hit my pistons is a bigger question....

PLEASE....
PLEASE HELP!!!!

You should have plenty of valve to piston clearance if you're just running the LT4 hotcam from what I see on your sig.

LT1s do not generally have PTV issues, especially not with a stock deck height.

FWIW, I run a zero deck, .028" gaskets, .610" lift cam and my heads were milled from 58cc
down to 56cc and PTV was not even close to being an issue.

Its funny u say that because today I just ordered the AI 230/238 .575/.575 110lsa cam. So let's hope ha ha..... and will those gaskets I already have work(.050 compressed thickness) or do I need different ones?

.050 will work, but you can certainly go thinner if you want to increase CR a little.

.028" GM "Impala" gaskets are what I use. PN 12553160
Felpro makes a .039"
Mr Gasket makes a .026" . I've used those before without issue.

If your block has not been decked, your pistons are probably "in the hole" about .010" - .015". Optimal quench height is .039", so the .026", .028", or .039" will be better than the .050". Make sure to use good head bolts.

Lloyd says optimal quench is .031 not .039. And I'm pretty sure that a stock motor will have the pistons deeper in the hole than that.

With a cam that size you need some compression. Go for either the Mr. Gasket 5716 or the GM impala gasket.

Agreed. My stock pistons were in the hole .025". Once the block was decked, I have quench around .030".

"Optimal" depends on the application.
How close are you willing to let those pistons come to kissing the heads?
Generally, you want to have at least .030"-.035" between piston and head to
accomodate piston rock and rod stretching in extreme weather.
In a dedicated drag car, people are willing to push that a little tighter.

The stock shortblocks I have measured were .022-.032. down.
