People for some reason think that you can't run compression that high with pump gas in an LT1 but guess what? There are lots of cars doing it. With a big cam you can get away with real high compression. So no jet fuel. Regular ol 93 will be good as long as you have the cam do back it up.

Times/mph in my sig...Weenie cam, 11.2:1, LT1 LPE/E.B. Porting heads, Vig 3600 (now 4000), Strange 12 bolt w/ 4.10s, 275 60 R15 M/T ET Drag Radials, whole lotta of attention to detail...3600plus raceweight and driven everywhere...don't own a trailer...Shooting for a 10.99 this year...

I was debating what they ment by 13.1 because I have never called a motor by its compression ratio for a name lol. 13.1:1 is high, but it is possible and quite a few people do it on the LT1 on 93.

Mine is 13.7:1 and I run 110 unleaded(track only car)
one word of advice if you dont have a ignition box that you can retard the timing at start up you will be going through starters real fast
I have a digital 7 box and retard the timing 20 degrees on startup

Interesting, I never had any idea retarding timing would make it easier to start, I will need to go research why not darn it lol. My starter sounds like it gonna kick the bucket every time I roll mine over and its no where near 13.7:1

Big overlap cam, timing pulled, higher octane fuel ... pick your poison (or some combination thereof).
Keep us posted on how it works out and make sure your tuner knows what he's doing.
Make sure Lloyd knows what SCR you are running so you get a cam that will work.
To the original question;
Asking what 383s run is like asking what 350s run. Displacement is a minor factor in the whole equation.
Component selection and overall attention to detail in selecting a combination will ultimately determine what
you can and cannot do and thus what you can run.

My motor was a 9.8 :1 GM 847 AFR heads stock intake, 3000 stall, 3.73 gears in the stock rear and it ran 11.50s in the heat and 11.3s in the cold.
I use 87 Octane.

Timing doesnt necessarily have to be pulled, I run 36 total. But the quench has to be TIGHT and dead on. Among other factors.
Yes a cam with more overlap is required, but mine isnt bad, pretty docile as solid rollers go.
