Default Oil Pressure Sending Unit and Long Tubes

Hey guys what do i need to do here? The big rubber boot sticks out and rests on my headers. Do they have a shorter sensor? Anything special anyone has done? O they are pacesetter long tubes in a 93 z.

the later lt1 i believe mid 94 and up have the sending unit behind the intake manifold you can easily convert over to using that sensor vs the one near the oil filter.

+1. You can use the other location:

You will need the two angle fittings (you can probably find them at a junk yard), and you will need a plug to block off the current location. Not sure if you will have to extend any wiring or not.

You would probably have to at the very least pull/segregate the oil sending wire from the loom/harness in order to move it. Mine looks like it goes into a harness down at the bottom of the engine pretty early, so it would probably have to be modified to move up top of the motor. It shouldn't hit though, it might be really close, but as long as it is not resting on it, it should be fine as that rubber boot is heat shielded as well and is there for just that purpose...to prevent excess heat from getting to the sensor/wires.

Does anyone know if there is a writeup on this mod, or can anyone tell me how to this that has already done this mod. It is a PITA to remove this sending unit everytime i mess with my headers. My engine is torn done to the short block so right now your be the best time to do this.

Just put a right angle fitting (or combination of fittings) at your current location to make the sensor hug the block.

+1, i just got done doing this. I used a ninety degree turn. i have about 1/2in of clearance with the space ship cover on for the sending unit.

Good Luck.

What long tubes do you have? Never had an issue with mine and Hooker Long tubes.
