Default AI heads and baby cam dyno

AI 200cc heads and 22X 23X 56X 56X on 110 LSA, RKSport 1 3/4 mid length headers, Hooker cat back, AS&M 54mm TB, racetronix 32lb injectors.

I had about 7 degrees of knock retard and it was a little rich in the upper RPMs. I think with a little work on the tune and a cut-out I'll be pushing 430.

The guys running the dyno said it was reading low for some reason. They had one car on today that was on yesterday and it made 50HP more yesterday. There was also a guy that had his on SpeedIncs in Chicago dyno recently and he made 35 less on this one.

It's a custom cam, small duration and not much lift. The basic spec are in my first post. I wanted something that was easy on the valvetrain and easy to drive in traffic.

barely making 350 rwtq? can't expect that to perform well at the track.

Does that have a mail order tune? The torque curve looks pretty funny. I'de get it dyno tuned by a good tuner and you should see some pretty solid gains.

i mean its a flat torque curve, just not making that much of it. Go get it dyno'd somewhere else with a full dyno tune on it and see what it puts down

Good first outing. get that tune and cutout done. My car picked up big with a better exhaust.

Mids were the big bottleneck in my first H/C build.
Put the LTs on and WOW ... what a difference.

Those RK sport headers are messing up the low and mid range torque. Not so much the peak HP.

Definitive proof LT's are better than Mid-tubes
Red = previous setup with RK sport mid-tube headers & 30# injectors
Blue = current setp with LPP long tube headers & 37# injectors

397RWHP is about right for that setup IMHO through the 10 bolt.
Aint no way in Hell you can expect 430RWHP out of that cam. Forget about that.
The torque on the OP's graph definitely carried itself well at the end.

I'm not sure how his cam compares to mine but I'm making 430rwhp with a 22x/23x cam with an unported intake and stock waterpump. I don't see 410-420rwhp being a problem with a cutout and getting the tune fixed.

Yeah, but I think you are the exception and not the rule. Clearly your stuff is dead nuts optimized and dialed in.

Its just that those cam specs, in general are not really expected to provide 430RWHP. Sure those numbers are easy with a larger cam. Thats just based on what I have learned over the years.

The right small cam works wonders...I run a very similar 226/234 .568" on a 111 lsa from Joe Overton and my times/mph are in my sig...Just finished a 400 plus mile round trip and as always...no issues...

I've been thinking about long tubes for a while, but my car rides pretty low and I don't need any more dragging exhaust than I have now.

A rear end is next on the list, I hurt the rear end the first time I shifted hard over 6000 RPMs. I'm going to be ordering a Midwest with 4:11s in the next couple days. I bought some used ET streets and will be heading to the track as soon as I get the rear end in.
I will have a cut-out and the tune tweaked before it sees the track. I'm not expecting anything great on the track as my car is very heavy, the whole interior is lined with an aircraft equivalent of Dynamat, and with the C5 brakes I don't have an option for lighter front wheels and tires.

I'm slammed and my PS LT's tuck up pretty nice. I still have to avoid every thing I can, but that's the life I chose, lol.

The MidWest fabbed 9" is nice, I installed on into my buddy's LS1 Fbody.

You proboably already know this, but you can count loosing at least 15-20RWHP as soon as you put in the 9".
