I'm having the exact same problem. Trying to track it down right now. Spark from coil, no spark at plugs. Brand new opti, icm, tps, fuel is good. Anyone had problems with MSD coils blowing out optis? Just wondering if the extra voltage is killing it.

you know what i saw a thread here before with the msds killing the optis but many peeps have been running them for a long time including myself and im fine..but i would say if you have power out of the coil wire then you know your coil works but now you can have some one crank the car and jam a circuit tester aka test light into any spark plug wire BOOT on the opti . dont poke the wire just slip it in the boot and try to touch the conductor for the wire and yes connect it to ground, while your buddy cranks it over for a very short time it should light up indicating it has power going to that plug wire but you have 7 other wires to check and thats hard to do because of all the accessories in the way..but the opti may be bad even if you get spark, or a screw fell out of the opti, or even burnt the cap where there will never be spark at that cylinder..but if there is no spark then yes your opti can be bad, but u then need to check for power to the opti before replacing the opti sux too

Default Look into ICM

sorry for some of what of

I had similar problems with my 01 3.8l.

I ended up replacing coils, coil housing, icm, crank sensor, map sensor.

The car's been good for a year now this bs started all over again.

I am troubleshooting this same bs this weekend .
I been followin this thread and I 'd say check the icm.

Thinking spark? Just replaced the plugs two days ago with tr55's. Coil has less than prolly 50 miles on it. Got the opti from Larry from Speed Inc, he said it has very very low miles on it. I'm lost lol...

Any suggestions?
When my opti went out, I was pulling out of work, it just quit.. Im leaning toward opti for you now..
You did check opti pigtail right? like I mentioned for the 3rd time now..? lol..
