wtf, be really cool if they do build one, but like any thing else, until I can get my paws on one, I have learned not to raise my hopes.

OUTSTANDING!!!

I know there are a lot of folks responsible for making this move from being merely a consideration to the actual design and release stage. I like to think I was one of them.

After talking with one of Dart's Tech reps and learning of Dart's consideration for casting such a block, I posted on several Forums asking for guys to respond with their interest in such a block. The response was great and I like to think it helped Dart management decide to make this move.

I can't wait to get my hands on one to begin a new project engine for my 96 Vette.

Congrats to DART!

Jake

hell, that isn't even too far off then what it takes to get the machine work done to a stocker + the price of a used stocker. I wonder if it will come with 4 boll splayed bearings like the SBC SHP blocks they have, that in itself is a big benefit to the price...

Exactly. People need to realize that it costs about $1000-$1200 for just the block work to turn their 350 into a good 383. Boring, honing, line-boring, converting to 4-bolt splayed caps, clearancing for a stroker crank, decking, etc...it all adds up. The SHP block is far stronger to begin with and only a few hundred more, with substantially more cube potential.

More cube potential= more power potential.

The only bad thing is, a lot of guys are going to nut hug this new block kind of hard, but fail to realize the factory block has more potential then 97% of the builds out there can get out of them. When Rick ran 8.0@174 that night at HRP, it wasn't the factory LT1 block that was the issue, Madman also just ran mid 8s in their twin turbo LT1. Dave Diluca went 9.0s with an LT1 block on gas, so did Tanner. Steve Quinn ran 9.7@135 NA with a 370 cube LT1 with Lt1 heads and intake and the list goes on. Going big cubes is great and all, but that eerily (sp) reminds me of the biggest cam makes the most power mentality. I'm happy the block is coming out and realize it does have a great amount of potential but fear most builds are still well within the factory blocks bounds but now since some thing new is out people discredit all what the factory LT1 block has done and pass it off like it was some great limiting factor when it never was.

yep not to hyped about the new block myself. I'd like to see someone create a firmware update for the lt1 PCM so I can spin to 7500, that would be a step in the right direction.

hell it isn't even about big cubes for some of us, it is about the bigger bore, bigger bore allows better flowing heads and a whole lot more, with the bore sizes offered here, that can't be gotten from a stock casting, people can actually build an LT1 that can hit low 9's or high 8's N/A because there is a lot more room for head flow and biggger valves...

hell with a bore of 4.155 and 3.625 stroke crank you have a motor smaller then a normal 396 LT1, but it has so much more potential to breath...
