Default LT1 pulls to 6000 rpms in each gear and hits rev limiter?

Fine tuning my car, got the miss figured out (plug wire arcing on the alternator) and it pulls hard now, but when I have the car in OD or Drive and go WOT, the car pulls to aprox 6000 RPMs, then acts like its hitting a rev limiter and you have to let off the gas or wait a second before it shifts to the next gear. Any idea what is going on here?

A4? Sounds like stall wall.

i was having the same problem before my car started giving me a bad missfire code that i still cant figure out. I thought that it might be the the fuel pump so i changed that but im still lost on the miss fire so i havent been able to see if it helped yet

if your in overdrive it wont shift to a higher gear, if your in drive it should shift at 6k tops on your car into OD if its a stock tune..do you have enough trans fluid, ses light at all?

Yeah, i believe its a stock tune as far as i know, fluid is fine, SES light is on, but i dont have EVAP and EGR codes cleared yet. The light goes off after sitting at idle for a couple seconds, and goes back on after i start accelerating until i go back to idle again. Engine itself seems to run fine. Im stumped

OBD1 cars with computer controlled transmissions do not like big stalls and sometimes refuse to shift at WOT, but will shift if you let off the gas.

93s don't get it because they have mechanical transmissions. Search will bring up tons of results and discussions about stall wall.

I believe the car has a stock stall or somewhat near stock if the previous owner replaced it. Tried stalling it out and nothing too nuts. So it basically sounds like stall wall, minus i dont have a huge stall. Any ideas?

same here, it wouldn't shift at WOT on the 2-3 shift, 2 weeks later I lost OD and 3rd gear. a few days and a Performabuilt trans later, it shifts hard even on the spray

Sounds like you are hitting the rev limiter. Stock was 5850(I think, its been a long time). The tach's are usually off 200 rpm. At least they were like that when new.

Are you running different size tires? That could be why you are banging the limiter before the shift.

The stock tune may be part of the problem. Try turning up the rev limiter, or lowering your shift points. Your transmission may always be on the way out. Mine has, in the past, started slipping or holding gears before it actually fails.

I think a tune would clear this up. Tune the rev limiter higher...as you mod you are going to want a bit higher revs anyway. Nothing crazy, just a bit higher. Or you could lower the shift points, but unless you plan on leaving it mostly stock I would probably go to a bit higher rev than a lower shift point.

Since you have a computer that is different than what the LT1 folk in this forum use, you might be better served asking in the LSx forum where people would be more familiar.

I had the same issue with my car. Everyone said it was the trans on its way out. But after getting a tune and bumping the line pressure it shifts now without hitting the rev limiter. but yeah the trans is on its way out and what I did only bought me a little time before it fails.

Any decent tuner can cure the stall wall.
