Default biggest cam on stock LT1

hey im new here just pick up a 96 Z28 wit the LT1 wonding whats the biggest camm i can out in there with out changeing vavle srpings any advise would help thanx

with any cam upgrade it is highly recommended to change the springs. mine wasnt a huge upgrade from stock, but i got new springs

You would be further ahead to change the springs and leave the stock cam. That will let the stock cam make power for a few hundred more rpms.

Stock springs suck on the stock cam, any aftermarket cam will need springs.

Why would you want to reuse stock springs?

70s era thinking. There was a time DECADES ago when such a thing was acceptable. Many guys get their hotrodding start from fathers or uncles who's knowledge is grossly outdated.

At least he came here and asked first helping him keep this limited to a bad idea instead of making a mistake.

Oh I wasn't trying to undermine his knowledge, just trying to figure out why he wanted to reuse them (outdated knowledge being a possible explanation).

yeah i thought so i was gonna change the springs i was told by a friend i could run a big cam on stock springs just asking for help before i make a mistake like i said I'm new to this style of motor looking for advise thanx guys
