what stock replacement fuel pump should I use?

If its going to stay stock then a stock GM pump will do.I put a Racetronic kit in mine and what a difference it made. The kit has a Walbro 255 and heavier gauge power wire.If he plans on looking for HP then I would go with the racetronic kit. With this setup my fuel pressure is 42 psi at idle.

My car is essentially stock. I think I need a new fuel pump and I've pretty much decided to get the Racetronix kit. I also need a new sending unit. My local hometown dealer wanted somewhere between 700-800 bucks for a sending unit and pump, which I feel is crazy. I'm planning to get the sending unit from Jason Cromer.
Do most people get the Racetronix kit directly from Racetronix?

the quote you got is because of the dealer will drop your tank and it will cost you a lot. If your willing to cut up the car it can be done quickly but droping the tank is going to take a lot of time, regardless of whose doing it.
I cut up my car and put in a 255 intank when i was a dumb *** and ran out of gas with my car when i was 17, i burnt out the pump.

The quote I got from my dealer was for the parts only.

If I get the Walbro pump how the heck are ya supposed to get the pump out of that bucket thing? I got his old pump assembly out but the pump itself is in that bucket.Do ya have to use that bucket thing? I'm afraid if I pry it open it will break the plastic and even if I don't how are ya supposed to seal it back up?

You need to be careful. The bucket is essential, since our tanks are basically unbaffled. There is a seal at the top, all the way around. It must be taken apart at that point.
You have to reseal it when going back together.
I went with a straight Walbro the first time. When it went south, I went with the Racetronix kit. Night and day difference in quality and completeness. It came with full instructions, and even the glue to reseal the bucket.
The entire kit, wiring harness and pump, was still less than the factory pump by itself.

I did a ported heads and cam with all bolt ons and I had a fuel pump that could not handle the extra HP.It wasn't a stock pump but it had a hard time keeping up with 30# injectors with only 38psi at idle. The idle is so much better with the walbro and it seems to make more HP but I will have to take it back to the dyno to verify that. When you are no longer satisfied with stock things like fuel pressure, vacuum ,oil pressure and fluid temperatures are even more important.
