Where are you all buying your stroker kits from?
Looking to build a 383 when I get back. Trying to do my research now so I have a solid gameplan when the time comes. Still havent decided on wether I want to buy a ready to rip shortblock from a vendor or buy a stroker kit and have my block machined, or piece together a stroker kit. I am trying to stay away from Eagle stuff but would run forged Scat items... and if all works out and things go well, run a Callies compstar kit.
I would like to be able to spray it, no more than a 200 shot but that would not be its main purpose. Car would be for mainly street with trips to the strip on the weekends. Driveline is pretty much set.
I am planning to have $5K to spend on the total project and I already have a set of LE heads and intake, fuel system, timing set ect. Most of the top end is already taken care of. I still need pushrods and rockers.
Are you guys piecing your shortblock together yourself then taking the parts to your machinist, or ordering a whole kit from a vendor or letting your machinist order everything? Who are you ordering your stuff from? I would be using a machinist from the Waco-Austin Texas area.
I was throwing this combo around if I were to put a kit together myself:
Wiseco pistons
Scat forged crank
Scat 6" rods
Thanks for any help or hindsight.
Jeff

my thought is wait for the dart ltx block to be available. sounds like that's the next hot ticket in lt1 performance.
it would be nice to have the camaro fully NA with 500hp to the wheels and easily driveable day in day out... and to tell people you have 427 lt1 would be something too...

I have been looking at AI's stuff for some time, keeping track of what people are running with thier stuff. Still waiting on some more results of thier 230/238 cam. If I have to go 355 for some reason, I am going to look into that cam.
I am going to go to Lingenfelters site and see what they have. Thanks for the heads up.
A 427 LT1 would be cool, but I dont think that it would fit in my $5K budget. Maybe when it comes out, there will be some good deals on 383s that people are selling to get the new Dart block.
Thanks guys ,
Jeff

I bought a set of 1.65 rockers from CNC Motorsports one time. They did not care when I found them to measure 1.6. I wont be doing buissiness with them again even if it were to buy a name brand part.
Personally I would find it hard to pass up the Compstar stuff get everything you need from AI and you will have a well thought out package that should work very well.
Nice to deal with just one vendor and one machinist on a build.

Yea guys. 99blancoSS has killer prices. I am going to with him if I go 383 or I need anything else.
Bob, thats a sweet ride there, but I dont think I can afford the additional cost of a supercharger on top of a shortblock.
99blancoSS, you have another PM.
Thanks,
Jeff
