Default write up on replacing rear main seal

does anyone know of a write up on replacing the rear main seal i cant find one. my motor has about 124,xxx miles on it and is leaking kinda bad is it worth it to just replace the seal or is it too much of a pain should i wait till i rebuild it. cause 124,xxx isnt that bad for a lt1 is it?
thanks, Chris

124xxx miles is nothing for a well maintained SBC/LT1 engine.

I would try to do some other work at the same time as replacing the rear main seal to make the effort more worth it. Install an upgraded clutch (if M6) or install a higher stall (if A4) at the same time.

Removing the trans is cake, especially if its an A4. Biggest issues are fluid everywhere and exhaust rust, but you don't have to take off the y-pipe to pull the trans. Lots of flex/elbows and extensions on an impact wrench and you can have it out in under 2 hours.

After thats out of the way you just pull the flexplate/flywheel and bam you're there. The seal itself is simple to replace, just leave the little plastic thing on it helps you install it.

Call yank and they will guide you in the right direction with a stall.

my old firebird leaked bad out of the rear main but I couldnt bring myself to pull the transmission to fix an oil leak. Its a pain in the *** to do on jackstands, took me about 8 hours to pull/replace it.
