Default Back from the track - Advanced Induction 383

After a soggy start to the day (it down-poured when I was the next car in line, DOH!), I am pleased with the results. Never got any dyno-tuning done, so all runs are on a mail-order tune. Runs were at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, PA Conditions were hot and humid (85+ degrees, right after the rain), but the track prep was EXCELLENT!

Best run of the day (stupid DSM shitting the bed) -

11.51 @ 118, 1.57 60'

Couple minor bugs though. The trans was shifting into 3rd about 2000rpm early (sucky) and the car is a bit undergeared (3.90s), but I am overall pleased with the results. Once I get some tuning done and fix the trans issues I don't rule out an 11.2x. The 10s remain elusive for now.

Not bad at all for a shake down. I thought the mph would be a bit higher. Do you know what the DA was?

The orange turd in the right lane. **** was annoying as hell.

MPH should definitely be higher, but like I said I had shifting and tuning issues. I also sacrificed some top end when I had the converter built for a higher STR. It's through a 4L60E and a 9", and undergeared as well. I know I have some work to do.

Nice shakedown passes, that 2000 rpm short shift has to be killing you . Get that thing dyno tuned ASAP.

Very nice. I wonder what it will do tuned and if you ever have the chance to run it in 40* weather.

Mild for a 383. It's comparable to Comp's XE 236/242.

Nice, that car runs well. I would be very pleased for shakedown runs. The mph looks decent considering all the variables.

Locking the converter on the big end?

Get some tuning and sort out the car before the cold weather. Don't forget that you are comparing your times to people who ran numbers in 40-60 degree weather.

I'd be pleased with that on the first run. Still plenty of room for improvement.

Joe,

Nice to see it is running decent all things considered.

With a refined tune & proper shift points it should manage 121-122 in the summer & ~124 in better air. I'd suspect low 11's will come with relative ease.

Take Care,

-Phil

not bad for a mail order tune, thought it will trap higher like 122 to 124 mph but the 1/4 time is good. with a dynotune and shift points spot on i think you will gain more mph.

I'm still debating on a converter lock-up switch. I figure I have a few other issues to work out, but it's definitely going to be considered.

Thanks to all for the comments!

Nice run, Joe!

It's been a while. Figured you'd go 383 eventually. I'm sure you'll drop some time once you get the tune straightened out.
